Multi-zone climate controls

Our standard one-zone climate system lets you choose your preferred cabin temperature. The car will optimize fan speed and air distribution, but you can still make manual adjustments.

Opt for a two-zone climate system to allow the driver and passenger to set their own temperatures.

Use the Volvo Cars app to remotely warm or cool the cabin before you get in.

Air purification technology

Fine particulate matters (PM 2.5) are a health impairing air pollutant. By efficiently helping to reduce or eliminate the levels of PM 2.5 inside your Volvo, our air purifier significantly contributes to a clean cabin environment. This advanced technology traps these extremely small particles in a filter and can stop up to 95% from entering the cabin. The levels of PM 2.5 particles in the cabin are constantly being monitored by an optical sensor and shown in the center display. You can also compare the PM 2.5 levels in the cabin with those outside the car. Using the Volvo Cars app, you can even pre-clean the cabin air and access information on interior air quality before entering the car.

LED headlights

Our signature Thor’s Hammer headlights provide excellent visibility. They also turn with you when you steer through a curve, illuminating the road ahead. Opt for Pixel Technology Headlights which provides efficient white light that is relaxing for the eyes, which can help the driver feel more alert. When approaching or leaving the XC40, the lights will perform a welcoming or farewell sequence.

Spacious trunk

The XC40 has a maximum cargo capacity of 57.5 cu. ft. with a 2.7 cu. ft. compartment under the load floor. The inner wheel arches are pushed out of the way to widen the trunk and create a flat floor. Open and close the power-operated tailgate hands-free with a kick under the bumper. You can also use buttons on the tailgate and dashboard.

Practical 5-seater

The XC40 packs comfortable seating for up to five people and a spacious trunk into a lean package. And while it retains the ride height and ground clearance SUV drivers love, its compact size makes it practical, especially in urban areas.

Drop your phone on the optional charging pad. There's a removable bin at the back of the console to stow items or for garbage. Keep your drink within reach using the console's two cup holders. Pop your laptop or handbag in the large door pockets. And hang takeout on the dashboard fold-out hook.

The available panoramic roof spans the front and rear seats, flooding the cabin with natural light. Dark-tinted laminated glass helps reduce glare and outside noise. Swipe the ceiling-mounted control panel in the front row to open and close the roof and power-operated sunshade.
